Gearing Up For Spring Planting In Agassiz!

AGASSIZ, March 16th, 2018 – Fraser Valley Hop Farms, Inc. (FVHFs) today announced that they have purchased 22,000 (Twenty-Two-Thousand) hop varieties from Green Flora Greenhouse located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The farm is located in one of the best growing climates in Canada on the 49th parallel. The newly purchased plants are conservatively projected to produce between 1 – 1.5lbs (pounds) of quality hops annually at full production.

Fraser Valley Hop Farms ( aim to be one of the most consistent and reliable suppliers of quality hop products to craft breweries across Canada and internationally. The farm will have it’s first harvest season between the months of September – October of 2018 and will immediately begin supplying local BC breweries with fresh hops.

“Growing any agricultural crop on a large scale that maintains consistent quality at a competitive price comes with both challenges and rewards. In addition to production ramp-up, we will focus on our marketing strategy for the craft brewery market” Said Alex Blackwell, Managing Director of Fraser Valley Hop Farms Inc.

The farm has contracted the legendary Rick Knight with over 30 years of hop growing experience in the Fraser Valley. The farm hopes to become one of the global agricultural leaders and high-tech facilities systems experts. Hops production requires meticulous attention to the growing environment, processing areas, management, climate to maximize efficiency.

For this hops farm, the goal is to be at 75 producing acreage for 2018, which will likely produce between 68,000 – 102,000lbs (pounds) of dried hops. Hops have a diverse range of varieties which encompass a wide range of flavors and aromas. Full production will produce: Triple Pearl, Centennial,Cashmere, Sterling, Tahoma, Chinook, Cascade hop varieties.
